PAUL ZIEGLMEIER
Paul Zieglmeier of Marshfield was born on March 25, 1986. He came into this world by cesarean section three weeks early at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. When he was born, he had a water sac outside of his head at the nape of the neck. His diagnosis was posterior encephalocele. This is similar to spina bifida, only the defect is higher along the spinal column. After 50 days in the hospital, five surgeries, and six spinal taps, Paul was able to go home for the first time.
Although today Paul struggles with mild cerebral palsy, epilepsy and has a shunt, he leads an active and happy life. He enjoys sports such as swimming, bowling, basketball and golf. He also likes 4-wheeling, canoeing, hunting, fishing, biking, movies and television.
