HOW CMN HELPS Children's Miracle Network (CMN) was established nationally in 1983 to help children by actively supporting improved health care for millions of young people around the world. CMN's mission is to generate funds and awareness programs for the benefit of children served by its associated hospitals, now numbering more than 170 nationwide. There are three CMN Hospitals in the state of Wisconsin. Saint Joseph's Children's Hospital of Marshfield became a partner with CMN in 1989. And although CMN is a nationally affiliated event, 100% of the funds raised locally stay in the North Central Wisconsin area to help provide programs, services and treatment for sick and injured children. Funds also are used to support programs that seek to prevent children's injuries, and promote healthy lifestyles in these communities. In addition, CMN does not focus on any particular disease or injury - all children in North Central Wisconsin can benefit from the projects funded through CMN. Finally, all overhead costs associated with the operation and production of CMN are underwritten by local and national sponsors, enabling 100% of the contributions to be used for the purpose for which it was donated, to help kids. Our local CMN program involves 17 counties including: Adams, Ashland, Bayfield, Clark, Forest, Gogebic (UP), Iron, Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, Oneida, Portage, Price, Sawyer, Taylor, Vilas and Wood. Children’s Miracle Network is a year-round fundraising and awareness campaign. The first weekend following Memorial Day, CMN sponsors an annual television special. Marquee entertainment, dramatic miracle stories and donor recognition highlights the fundraising year. There is also a 3-day radiothon, hosted by WYTE, that is broadcast in September. WAOW TV-9 sponsors all televised events. Contributions to Children’s Miracle Network benefit an array of pediatric programs and services and it impacts young lives battling virtually every type of childhood illness and injury. Whether investing in the life of a premature infant whose weight is measured in grams rather than ounces, or preserving the dreams of a teenager whose hopes are threatened by the malignancy of cancer, Children’s Miracle Network is dedicated to our most precious resource ~ the health and happiness of children in our area.
